a jedi needs to train gosh damnit! don't judge me

i thought i would try a little effect by the hilt of the saber.. i seen it in a few drawings and sketches on people's art.

i thought it looked pretty cool.

i am trying making a lightsaber my self, how do you manage to make it like that in a non black backround?
because i cant color it if it is on a picture

make black bg, set it to screen, and do your lightsaber effects on that screened layer...
